That one thing is uprooted again.
With the chaos (and frankly, the cruelty) of the changes in the United States government—and its haze of surreality—are you finding that the one thing at the root of what distracts and derails you is back?
That the landscape has shifted.
And you no longer feel fully rooted in the truth at the ground of your own being.
Instead you’re running up against that tired and reflexive operational pattern of your life again.
The one that you’d thought you’d finally untangled—and woven into a different way of being.
Meeting it again (and under this collective intensity and uncertainty) feels surprising—and confronting.
Frankly, it’s the last thing you need or want to deal with right now (on top of what might feel surreal and out of your control).
But it is no wonder.
You—we—are being pressed.
(Hopefully, we are also being forged.)
We face a convergence of forces no one has experienced before—that are outside of the capacity of our nation states, our systems and structures, and even our ontology, to fully understand and address.
We do not yet have a way of framing—or successfully responding to—the simultaneous impacts of climate change, human migration, highly-concentrated wealth (that can buy and control gathering spaces, communications and governments) and technology (in the form of both artificial intelligence and, as my husband points out, non-human intelligence—welcome to Pluto in Aquarius).
And yet, they are a natural consequence—indeed the natural trajectory and result—of a Western capitalism born of a fundamental split between the mind and the body—and a systemic elimination of the Sacred.
And they put us at the center of our densest, collective karmic knot—with its braid of colonialism, white supremacy and patriarchy and its worship of productivity, efficiency and profit.
Our collective karma is a collective energetic memory of a widespread pattern of repeated and reinforced actions—across populations and millennia—that has become a framework of socio-economic organization and operation.
It expresses as our socio-economic structures, systems and dynamics, as our conscious and unconscious perpetuation of them—and as the assumptions, priorities and values that underpin them.
It is a collective consciousness that has deep roots—and it can exact a high (actual or perceived) cost to untangle.
The root of what distracts and derails you from your life’s work—your own karmic knot—is bound up with our collective karmic knot of capitalism.
It is born of that same fundamental split.
Woven of the same threads—and knotted in the same places.
And so, when we are confronted with our collective patterns (especially with their current intensity and caricature), you will meet (once again) the raw, tender and snarly root of your own karmic knot.
It is an opportunity to untangle it even more fully and completely—for you and for us.
And in that deeper untangling, to remember—and reclaim—that there is another way.
A way that was lost.
But of which you—we—have an ancient and instinctual memory.
That beckons.
In whispers and tugs. In hopes and dreams.
In aspirations—and in pain and longing, failure and jealousy, frustration and lament.
That one thing—coiled and curled, tangled and snarled into a tight little knot.
A snare from which it feels impossible to escape—and within which it feels impossible to breathe.
That is its memory—and your guide.
I invite you to follow it.

I would not have dared to hope for the things that have changed in my life because of this work.
Nothing short of magic has happened, and I cannot explain it. None of the other work I’ve done has touched this.
