Ease is not the same as easy
You might want ease and flow in untangling the root of what’s distracting and derailing you—and, most of all, as a result of untangling it.
(It might feel like it’s been way too hard for way too long—and spiritual practice and energetic alignment promise to give them to you, don’t they?)
It is true that you don’t need to be fighting to build or maintain things that are not meant for you—or in a way that is not natural for you.
(You do not need to fight with Life.)
But having ease is not the same as things being easy.
We have a cultural obsession with making things easy.
(This is a lot of why you swing the pendulum back and forth between your version of intense, focused activity and collapse-as-surrender.)
But spiritual practice doesn’t promise to make things easy.
Easy is the promise of consumer capitalism—through automation, convenience, and comfort.
Spiritual practice promises ease.
Ease is a cultivated sense of equanimity—that is rooted in an acceptance of what is.
It is not a frictionless path of change or accomplishment.
It is acceptance of the friction.
It is your capacity to navigate and engage directly with life—with relative compassion, perspective and grace.
To feel rage and shame and grief as equally intensely and gratefully as joy and love and hope.
And to be willing to feel it all and navigate it all without expectation that it should be different—and without taking it all so personally.
(You cannot spiritual practice your way out of being human.)
So, stomp, rage, grieve—and then let your expectations (that things be easy or otherwise) go.
Lay them on the altar of your practice.
Throw them in its fire.
Place them gently in the stream of Life—and let it wash over you.
Rest in the ease of (hard-won) trust.
Rest in the ease of (long-sought) truth.
Ask (the beloved of your longing) for help.
You are rooted in a deeper rhythm and sway—held in a Sacred dance with all that is.
(You are not forgotten.)

I would not have dared to hope for the things that have changed in my life because of this work.
Nothing short of magic has happened, and I cannot explain it. None of the other work I’ve done has touched this.
